Brought together by necessity, the founders promote NZ designed and manufactured products & services built for Worldwide users. Paladin began it’s life in 2011 when exporting to the grid was expensive and time consuming to get approval. What started as an off-grid device migrated to on-grid PV, when this became easier and export feed in tariffs were $0.28/unit. With the slashing of the export buy price, we went into full manufacture of Paladin.

Cuts to retail buy-back rates have prompted us to find new ways to increase solar self-consumption through hot water heating rather than exporting to the grid. The Paladin solar power charge controller redirects surplus solar energy into a hot water cylinder, to increase the amount of generation used on-site. Why export power at 7 to 8 cents, then have to buy it back at 28 cents? The charge controller aims to “significantly” increase customers own solar power generation from the industry average of 50-60% (UK research) to nearly 100%.
